Woodland Park Dog Off Leash Area

Woodland Park's off-leash area is a 7.2 hectare Maroondah Council reserve on Central Avenue, Croydon South, built around a large open grass oval ringed by bushland. The oval is the off-leash zone; the bush paths around it are on-leash walking country.

The rules. Dogs can run free on the central grass oval under effective voice control, but must go back on lead within 15 metres of the playground, barbecues, picnic areas or any organised sport. The surrounding bushland tracks are on-leash throughout. Greyhounds must stay leashed everywhere, per the Domestic Animals Act. Bins are provided, so bag and bin as you go.

What's there. A water tap with a bowl sits near the paths, and there are benches, a playground, picnic areas and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. The oval itself is largely unshaded, so it heats up fast in summer, bring your own water as backup.

Getting there. The park is at 69 Central Ave, Croydon South, with street parking generally available on Central Ave or the side streets. Check Public Transport Victoria for the closest bus stop if you're not driving.

Nearby with the dogs. Eastfield Coffee Co. and SoulPod Cafe are both a short drive away in Croydon South for a coffee after the run.

When to go. Weekends late morning to mid-afternoon and weekdays after 4pm draw the biggest crowds. Weekday mornings are the quiet option, good for dogs that prefer a calmer run before the school pickup rush arrives.
