Croudace Bay Small Fenced Dog Park

Croudace Bay Small Fenced Dog Park is a compact, fully fenced off-leash enclosure inside Thomas H Halton Park on Macquarie Drive, right on the Lake Macquarie foreshore between Eleebana and Croudace Bay. At roughly 2,000 square metres it is not a big run, but it is fenced around the clock, double-gated and shaded, which makes it an easy, safe stop rather than a trip you plan around.

The dog setup

The enclosure is designated off-leash at all hours by Lake Macquarie City Council, with a shaded gazebo and benches, a hydration station with a dog bowl attachment, bag dispensers, bins and a basic agility station. The wider Thomas H Halton Park has BBQs, picnic shelters, toilets, a playground and a foreshore path, so the family can split duties between dog run and playground.

Effective control still applies inside the fence, and it is worth a walk of the boundary when you arrive because there are gaps in places that a small or determined dog can find. Step outside the enclosure onto the foreshore or park and the lead goes back on; the Companion Animals Act also keeps dogs out of the playground and BBQ zones. Clean up after your dog, as council enforces it with fines.

Worth knowing

Because the yard is small, it works best as a quick off-leash burn or a puppy socialising stop rather than a full fetch session. Weekday mornings are quiet; weekend middays can see the limited space fill quickly. Keep your dog in sight at all times if it tends to test fence lines.

Getting there and parking

The fenced entrance sits off Macquarie Drive, opposite Tingira Drive, on the road linking Belmont and Speers Point. A free gravel and paved parking area sits right by the gate, which is what makes this such an easy stop. Bus stops run along Macquarie Drive but driving is the practical option with a dog. Warners Bay is five to ten minutes north by car.

Close by with the dogs

The larger Croudace Bay Dog Park next door in Eleebana has more room to run, and Speers Point Fenced Dog Park up the lake offers another fully fenced option. Lakefront coffee after the session works at Hippo Espresso in Warners Bay, and if you are staying over, Sails Holiday Park at Belmont takes dogs.
