Getting there and getting out

The park sits on the Belmont lakefront, with the foreshore path at the door for on-lead morning walks and the Swansea channel side of the lake close by. The lake is a no-go for off-lead exercise, but Lake Macquarie City Council's designated off-leash beach is a few minutes south: the section of Nine Mile Beach from the Awabakal Avenue car park at Blacksmiths is leash-free at all times, and the Belmont North leash-free park at Wommara Avenue is the closest grass option.

Close by with the dogs

Central Belmont has the usual cafe strip a short drive away; TINTA is the local dining pick for a day you are not cooking at the cabin. The Fernleigh Track is an easy on-lead rail trail option for a longer walk. If the dog-friendly cabins are booked out, Sails Holiday Park is the other Belmont lakeside park worth checking.
