Cash Reserve on Livingstone Street is a large open grassy hill backing onto bushland and Edgars Creek, a tributary of the Merri Creek system. It has a wilder, more natural feel than a manicured dog park, with walking trails along the creek and long views from the top of the rise.

The rules. Dogs can be off-leash but must stay under effective voice control, and there is no perimeter fence here. Keep dogs on-lead within 15 metres of any active sporting ground. The reserve borders private homes, so respect the residents' fences, including one with a sign asking that dogs stay off it. Clean up after your dog.

What's there. This is a bring-your-own spot: there are generally no water taps or bins on site, so pack water for your dog and carry your waste out. Street parking is on Livingstone Street.

Getting there. Access is off Livingstone Street. You can also walk in along the Edgars Creek paths. On public transport, the Route 19 tram on Sydney Road is the nearest option but leaves a decent walk, and Merri or Coburg stations are within reach.

Max's takegerman shepherd
Unfenced, bordering bushland, with wildlife about. If your dog likes to chase or wander, keep them close and don't rely on the open space alone to contain them.

When to go. Quieter through Sunday evenings and Friday evenings; busier Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon and Saturday mornings. Good for confident, recall-solid dogs who enjoy a bit of terrain.
