Mt Crosby dog off leash park

Mt Crosby Dog Off Leash Park is a fully fenced off-leash facility at 491 Allawah Road, Chuwar, sitting beside the Mt Crosby Sportsground and managed by Ipswich City Council. The defining feature is the dual-zone design, with separate sections for small and large dogs behind a double-gated entry system.

The dog setup

The park is off-leash around the clock within the fenced boundary, but dogs must remain leashed until you are inside the double-gated entry area. Voice control applies even when the lead is off. The split zones mean a cavalier can play safely on one side of the fence while the border collies tear around on the other.

There is a water tap and fountain for dogs, shaded seating for owners, and doggy bag dispensers with waste bins. Bring your own bags as backup, and pack extra water on hot days because the area can dry out. Surfaces turn dusty in dry spells and muddy after rain.

Pepsi: the double gate is the star here. Shut one before you open the other and even an escape artist gets nowhere fast.

The vibe

Weekday mornings and mid-afternoons are the quietest windows, while late afternoons, weekends, and Monday and Tuesday evenings draw the crowds from across the Brisbane and Ipswich border suburbs. It is a local park with a country feel, thanks to the surrounding bushland and the sportsground next door.

Getting there and parking

Access is via the Warrego Highway and M2, with free dedicated parking near the entrance. Public transport is limited, so driving is the practical option.
