Daph Geddes Park Fenced Dog Park sits on Quay Street in Bundaberg East, a secure off-lead enclosure inside a larger riverside park near the Burnett River. The fence is the whole point: proper free running without a lead, a few minutes from the Bundaberg CBD, with the river for a cooldown walk afterwards.

The dog setup

It is a single, large, fully fenced enclosure rather than separate big and small dog zones, so dogs of all sizes share the space. Off-lead play is permitted only inside the fence; step out into the wider park or along the riverside and the lead goes back on. Effective voice control is expected, and if play turns tense, remove your dog straight away. Water taps and bowls are inside, seating is shaded in parts, and a few small agility obstacles give the run some structure. Poo bags are supplied at the gate, but carry your own as backup because supplies run out on busy days.

Worth knowing

Two practical quirks come up from regulars: prickles in the grass, so a quick paw check after a session is worth the ten seconds, and limited shade over the open grass, which makes midsummer midday visits hard going for both of you. The park is open 24 hours, and weekday mid-mornings are the quietest window.

Max: single enclosure means small dogs and large dogs share the same run. Mine treated it as a zoomies arena and came back soaked after upending the water bowl, so bring a towel.

The address is 33 Quay Street, Bundaberg East, with parking right by the enclosure. Public transport stops along the main roads leave a short walk, but driving is the practical option, especially with a wet dog in the back.

River Cruz Cafe on Quay Street has a dog-friendly deck over the Burnett River and is an easy walk from the park for the recovery coffee.
