Bulla Recreation Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Bulla Recreation Reserve's off-leash area is a big, open sports oval on Bulla-Diggers Rest Road, bordered by natural bushland and mostly clear of the crowds you get closer to Melbourne. It is the kind of space where you can throw a ball the full length of the ground without dodging anyone.

Getting there. It sits on Bulla-Diggers Rest Road, a straightforward drive from Sunbury or Tullamarine. Parking is free and close to the oval. Public transport options are limited, so this is really a car trip.

Nearby. Sunbury is about an eight-minute drive and has a couple of dog-friendly cafes with outdoor seating if you want to make a morning of it. Confirm current pet policies directly before visiting, since cafe rules change.

Weekday mornings are quietest; weekends bring more families and sports groups. Good for dogs that want a genuine off-leash run rather than a quick footpath sniff, as long as you are prepared to leash up the moment you leave the oval.
