William Street Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

William Street Reserve runs a fully fenced off-leash area at the southern end of the reserve, set up as a Bayside Council secure off-leash trial. The fence is the appeal: a contained patch of open grass where a dog can run without the road-side risk of an open park.

The rules. Off-leash applies only inside the fenced trial area; the adjacent sports oval is on-leash and is restricted during organised sport. Keep your dog under control, clean up after them (bags are provided, but carry your own), and discourage digging to protect the grass. As a trial zone, the rules can change, so check council signage on the day.

What's there. Full fencing on the off-leash area, water taps at the pavilion, on-site parking, and nearby toilets and a playground on the eastern side. The council runs a winter Friday evening lighting program, roughly 5pm to 8pm.

Getting there. 80 William Street, Brighton, with off-street parking. Middle Brighton Station is a short walk or quick drive, and it is easy to reach on foot from the surrounding streets.

When to go. Friday evenings under lights and weekend mornings are the busiest. If the fenced area is packed, nearby Banksia Reserve runs a second secure off-leash trial. Good for dogs that need a safe, contained space to burn off energy.
