Market day at Akoonah Park
Spring blossom, short leads through the stalls, and an art show in the middle of the off-lead zone that Max refused to walk past.
We timed this one by accident and got Akoonah at its best: early September, blossom trees flowering through the parkland, and the markets running.
Akoonah runs on a simple split. Through the market areas dogs go on a short lead, and they are welcome and popular; most soak up the attention. Past the caravan park, the off-lead zone is well labelled, with room built for proper long fetches.
The September twist: an art show set up in the middle of the off-lead area, dogs welcome at the gallery.
Max: I spotted the art show set up right in the off-lead area and went straight over to have a look. The market crowds were interesting too, but I had to stay on lead near those bits.
Pepsi stuck to the creek side, swimming and exploring along the water while the open space soaked up his energy.
One caution: the fencing is not solid and the road entrance is not far, so this is a park for dogs with good recall. Full detail in the Akoonah Park guide.
