The Bakers Kid's Cafe

The Baker's Kids is a small, family-run bakery cafe on Keira Street in the Wollongong CBD, doing house-made baked goods, coffee and fresh rolls from 6am on weekdays. Dogs are welcome at the footpath seating out front, which makes it a friendly early-morning stop on a walk through town.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor tables on the Keira Street footpath, not inside the compact cafe. Bring your own water bowl to be safe on a busy morning, and keep your dog tucked in close, as the footpath is a working street with passing foot traffic.

Hours run 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday, with the cafe closed on weekends. Early is the time to go: the egg and bacon rolls and baked goods move fast, and the kerb seating is calmest before the commuter rush.

Worth knowing

The draw is homemade baking: bagels, wraps, rolls and sweets alongside proper coffee, served by staff regulars describe as warm and welcoming. It suits a quick coffee-and-pastry stop rather than a long brunch.

Max: this is a grab-a-roll-and-keep-walking kind of place. Order at the counter, take the footpath table, and you are back on your walk in twenty minutes with a very good breakfast.

Getting there

The cafe sits on Keira Street, central in the Wollongong CBD. Kerbside parking along Keira and the side streets is metered or time-limited, and the Wollongong Central car parks are a short walk if the kerb is full.

Honey Bee Cafe and Basin Cafe are other dog-friendly options around the CBD fringe, and the foreshore paths are a short walk towards the water. Coniston Dog Beach is the nearest off-leash sand, a short drive south.
