Piccolo's Corner

Piccolo's Corner occupies a converted corner store on St Leonards Avenue in West Leederville, and the planted courtyard out the back is where dog owners end up. The pace is relaxed even on weekend mornings, in a quiet residential pocket away from the main strips.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard and verandah seating, which are heavily planted and shaded by umbrellas. Staff are used to regulars with dogs and will usually bring a water bowl if you ask, and there is a coffee window so you can order without leaving your dog tied out front.

The courtyard is compact and shared with other diners, so keep your dog on a lead and close to the table. A resident cat sometimes wanders through, worth noting if your dog is cat-reactive.

The vibe

It is a homely, quirky little room known for coffee and a solid brunch menu: eggs benedict, savoury scrambled eggs and a spanakopita if you want something different. Breakfast and lunch run 7am to 4pm Tuesday to Friday, with 8am starts on weekends and a 2pm close both days. Closed Mondays.

Getting there

The cafe is at 58 St Leonards Avenue. Free street parking is generally available on St Leonards Ave and surrounding residential streets, and it is an easy walk from most of West Leederville.

Make a day of it

Lake Monger Reserve is a short drive or a solid walk away with plenty of shared path for a longer loop, and Lake Monger Dog Park covers the off-lead side of that outing. For another coffee in the same patch, The Coffee Thief and Butters are both close by.
