The Fox Cafe

The Fox Cafe serves the Fox Valley Road end of Wahroonga from 6am on weekdays, and its outdoor section has quietly become the neighbourhood's dog-friendly default. It sits among a cluster of cafes and eateries on the same strip, but the heated outdoor tables are what set it apart: owners and dogs can sit out in cooler weather and still be comfortable.

Dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area, and the heated outdoor tables noted in venue descriptions make it a genuine all-seasons option rather than a fair-weather one. Ask for a table away from the car park side, let staff know you have a dog, and you are set. As with most suburban cafes, the welcome covers the outdoor section only, so plan around the weather being an inside day differently.

The vibe

The menu runs long for a suburban strip: eggs benedict and a bacon and egg roll carry breakfast, a breaky wrap and burgers cover the rest, and even fish and chips appear on the board. Lactose-free milk is on hand and there is a discount for paying cash, a small quirk regulars plan around. Weekend service starts at 7am, and the weekday 6am opening makes it a reliable first stop after an early dog walk before the commute.

Wahroonga backs onto some of Sydney's best dog-walking country. Wahroonga Dog Park is the local off-lead spot, and the Lovers Jump Creek and Samuel King loop next suburb over is a proper bush walk worth the short drive.
