RSPCA Black Cat Café

RSPCA Black Cat Café sits inside the RSPCA Queensland campus at Wacol, a working animal shelter with an adoption centre, vet clinic and pet store on the same grounds. Despite the name, dogs are genuinely welcome, just not through the front door.

Dog access and setup. Dogs are welcome in the café's outdoor seating area, which is shaded and set up for pet owners. Pet dogs stay outside; the indoor space (with the cat adoption viewing windows) is for human patrons and service animals only. Water bowls are provided outside, and staff sometimes have treats on hand for visiting dogs. Keep dogs leashed at all times, this is a working shelter with animals coming and going.

Known for. Coffee, light meals and cabinet food with a side of watching adoptable cats through the glass enclosures. It's a genuine RSPCA fundraiser, so your coffee spend supports the shelter. The World for Pets store next door allows dogs inside if you want to browse after your coffee.

Getting there and parking. The café is at 139 Wacol Station Rd, Wacol, on the RSPCA Queensland campus. There's ample free on-site parking, and it's a short drive off the Ipswich Motorway. Wacol train station is nearby if you'd rather not drive.

Nearby with the dogs. Pooh Corner Bushland Reserve, a leash-only bushland walking circuit, is a short drive away if you want to turn the coffee stop into a proper outing.

Go for the cause as much as the coffee. Weekday mornings are quieter if your dog isn't a fan of crowds, and check RSPCA Queensland's site for current hours before you head out.
