Blackboard Varsity

Blackboard Varsity opens at 5:30am, seven days, on Varsity Parade and holds until 3pm daily, which covers both the surf check crowd and the late brunch set. Eggs benedict and hash browns anchor the board, with truffle scrambled eggs, acai bowls and shallot pancakes pulling the weekend tables. The front dining area looks toward Lake Orr, and the water view does a lot of selling by itself.

Front tables by Lake Orr

Listing reports have dogs welcome at the front outdoor dining area on a lead, and name it as a common stop after Lake Orr walks, with indoor dining not practical for dogs under Queensland food rules. The loop around Lake Orr is the natural pairing: a lap of the water first, then the front tables while the dog dries off and you catch up on the 5:30am crowd's gossip. Outdoor only is the whole game under those rules, so pick a shaded table early because the frontage catches the morning sun as it climbs. The 3pm close holds even on weekends, so the post beach lunch crowd needs to move early.

Varsity Parade has parking in the surrounding precinct and the 5:30am open is early enough that the pre work coffee is a real option. Afternoons need a different plan or a different suburb, and a second lap of the lake fills the gap better than the car park does.
