Miss Drew's Dog Cafe

Miss Drew's Dog Cafe on Mornington-Tyabb Road inverts the usual arrangement: this is a dog cafe where the entire menu is for dogs, run from the same bakery that makes Miss Drew's dog treats. The case holds pupcakes, donuts and baked treats made from dog-safe ingredients, there are puppuccinos and pugichinos at the counter, dog beer and doggie ice cream in the fridge, and custom dog birthday cakes built to order for the party circuit.

Humans are catered for too, just differently: coffee is served at the kiosk across the courtyard, so you order your flat white and your dog orders the chicken cupcake, and everyone leaves satisfied. The venue runs Thursday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm and closes Monday to Tuesday, and birthday bookings with photo ops are a regular sight on weekends.

The vibe

This is an event destination as much as a cafe: reviewers describe a lovely owner, a parade of birthday pups in party hats, and a courtyard built for dogs to actually be dogs. Every visitor arrives with a dog by definition, so the social dynamics are easy, and the treat range doubles as a takeaway run. If your dog has a birthday coming up, ordering the cake ahead is the move rather than an on-the-day ask.
