A busy Flinders Street cafe that lets dogs join you at the footpath tables. Mt. Joy sits on the ground floor of the Ergon Building at 420 Flinders Street, a go-to for city workers and a natural rest stop for anyone walking a dog through the CBD. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor and footpath seating.

The dog setup. Pull up at the street-side tables and order from there. Indoors is service dogs only. Water is not guaranteed at footpath spots, so bring a collapsible bowl, especially in the heat.

Known for. Freshly baked loaded cookies, plus healthy grab-and-go salads, wraps, burgers and barista coffee. It runs an all-day breakfast-into-lunch menu.

Getting there and parking. On Flinders Street in the CBD. Paid street parking on Flinders Street and nearby lots, and very walkable from across the city centre.

Nearby with the dog. The Ross Creek paths are an easy on-lead walk, with Queens Gardens and The Strand both a short drive for a longer leg.

When to go. Weekday mornings before the office crowd, or pick the shaded end of the footpath as the day warms. A quick refuel rather than a long sit.
