Cafe Nova Townsville

Cafe Nova was a vintage-styled Townsville City cafe known for home-style cooking, homemade sweets including its caramel tart, and an antiques-and-vintage fitout that set it apart from the slicker CBD cafes. It also had a welcoming line on dogs, with pups joining owners at the outdoor tables.

Worth knowing

The Blackwood Street cafe doors closed in June 2026. Rather than shutting down entirely, Cafe Nova moved its focus to its mobile jaffles-and-java coffee vans and catering across the Townsville region, turning up at events, markets and private bookings. There is no fixed storefront or daily trading hours any more, so if you want to catch them, check their Facebook page for where the van will be.

Because the cafe now trades wherever it parks, dog-friendliness depends on the venue hosting it: market lawns and outdoor event spaces are usually fine, but there are no dedicated dog facilities of its own to count on. Bring a water bowl as you would at any market stand.
