The Peachester Cafe Bakery

The Peachester Cafe Bakery is a country bakery-cafe at 24A Coochin Street in Peachester, a small hinterland town in the hills behind the Sunshine Coast. It is the kind of stop locals plan their morning around: housemade pies and sausage rolls in the cabinet, carrot cake, barista coffee, and outdoor tables where dogs on lead are welcome. Weekend riders and hinterland day-trippers pile in, which tells you the pies are worth the detour.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs on lead are welcome at the outdoor seating out front, and staff are easygoing with them. A water bowl is usually put out, though it is worth carrying your own in case it is not out when you arrive. There is no dedicated dog menu, so this is a grab-a-pie-and-share-the-come-hither-looks arrangement.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is known for homemade pies and sausage rolls, with burgers, sandwiches and wraps for heartier appetites and cakes and slices for the cabinet. There is live music some days, and the cafe is a regular pitstop for local walking and riding groups. It trades mornings to early afternoon, seven days, so do not plan on a late lunch.

Getting there and parking

Peachester sits between Maleny and Beerwah in the hinterland, and the cafe is right in the town with street parking directly out front. There is no dedicated car park, so arrive early on weekends before the riders and walkers claim the kerb.

Close by with the dogs

The Glass House Mountains District Park Dog Park, run by Sunshine Coast Council, is a reasonable drive for a proper fenced off-lead run. Closer in, Mill Park Fenced Dog Park at Beerwah and Pioneer Park Fenced Dog Park at Landsborough both work before or after the drive. If the pie queue is out the door, The Local Beerwah Cafe & Bar is a dog-friendly fallback down the range.
