The Handlebar is a relaxed cafe and bar inside Stromlo Forest Park on Dave McInnes Road, Stromlo. The single reason to bring your dog: a large, shaded outdoor seating area where you can both recover after a run on the trails.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor area, which includes paved and grassy spaces around the tables, but are not permitted inside the indoor cafe. Keep your dog on a leash at all times in the cafe and park area, and pick up after them. Water bowls are often provided.

Good to know. The menu covers coffee, bacon and egg rolls, and jaffles, with Bentspoke craft beer on tap. The venue sits with views over the Molonglo Valley and draws mountain bikers, hikers, and families.

With the paved and grassy layout, pick a table on the grass edge if your dog tends to slide or fidget on hard surfaces.

Getting there. Ample free parking is available in the main paved and gravel lots at the Forest Park facility. You can also reach the cafe via the walking trails within the park.

Best suited to active owners wanting a post-ride or post-walk feed with their dog alongside them.
