The Organic Market and Cafe

The Organic Market and Cafe runs from Druid Avenue in the Adelaide Hills township of Stirling, part wholefood store, part cafe, and a Saturday-morning institution for hills locals. Doors open at 8am and trade runs to 5pm most days, with the cafe menu leaning vegetarian: scones and carrot cake at the counter, mushroom confit and coffee for the tables.

The venue's own cafe page sets out the arrangement: dogs are welcome in the outdoor garden and open-air verandah seating on a leash, with water bowls available, and pets stay out of the indoor grocery area under food-safety rules. That split is easy to work with, because the verandah is where the best light falls anyway. Order inside, then settle at a garden table; the staff are used to dogs tied loosely within sight of their owners, and the store half of the building gives the waiting half plenty to browse after the plates are cleared.

Worth knowing

Hours are 8am to 5pm Monday, Thursday and Friday, with earlier finishes at 4:30pm on Wednesday and weekends, and 5pm on Tuesday. Parking runs along Druid Avenue and the adjacent streets, free and rarely difficult outside Saturday mid-morning. Stirling sits high in the hills, so winter visits run cold; the verandah heaters help but a wet day shrinks the dog space to whatever cover the garden edge provides.
