Asap Room is a quirky community cafe at 100A Barkly Street, and one of the few in St Kilda that welcomes dogs inside as well as out. Board games, a casual fit-out and a friendly attitude to dogs make it an easy wet-weather option.

The dog setup. Dogs are allowed indoors, with a small outdoor area as well. Staff are known to hand out dog biscuits, though it can get busy on weekends, so a quieter weekday visit suits a less confident dog.

Good to know. The kitchen leans Asian-inspired, with banh mi alongside the brunch menu, and the matcha lattes and hojicha get a regular mention. Open daily, roughly 7am to 4pm on weekdays and from 8am on weekends.

Getting there. Limited street parking is available on Barkly Street and the side streets. Trams on nearby Acland Street and Barkly Street make it an easy public-transport stop.

Nearby with the dogs. St Kilda Beach and the pier are a short walk for a pre- or post-coffee leg-stretch, and Acland Street is right at hand.
