The dog setup

Dogs join you at the footpath tables out front, where a leashed dog tucks clear of the main foot traffic. Staff are accommodating and water bowls can usually be provided on request, though on a busy day a travel bowl of your own is the safer bet.

There is no dedicated dog menu, so pack treats if your pup expects a cut of the action. The street-side position works best for dogs that settle rather than greet every passerby.

Max: morning slots are the move here. You beat the lunch rush and the footpath is cooler for the dog.

The draw is fresh, crispy banh mi, hot pho and spicy beef noodle soup alongside specialty Vietnamese coffee and matcha. Doors open 7:30am on weekdays and 8am on weekends, with service wrapping up at 5:30pm weekdays and 4pm weekends.

Getting there

Trams along St Kilda Road and Dandenong Road serve the Inkerman Street end, with stops in walking distance of the cafe. Street parking runs on the surrounding side streets; check signage for time limits and permit zones before you commit.

Close by with the dogs
