Split on Angelo

Split on Angelo is a European-style cafe at Shop 8, 53 Angelo Street, on South Perth's local shopping strip a short hop from the Swan River foreshore. It opens 7am to 3pm every day and runs a neighbourhood rhythm: regulars on the footpath tables, barista coffee, homemade croissants and Italian-influenced breakfast and light lunch plates, plus a serious tea list for the non-coffee half of the table.

The dog setup

Dogs belong at the alfresco tables out front, which run along the footpath with shaded spots to choose from. Interior seating is for humans only, standard for a working kitchen. Staff are relaxed about dogs at the outdoor tables, and the strip's footpath setting means other dogs are part of the scenery, so a calm dog fits best here. Carry a water bowl rather than assuming one turns up.

The menu leans Italian on the breakfast side with well-regarded coffee and matcha alongside, and the cleanliness and service of the alfresco area get repeat mentions from reviewers. Weekday mornings are the quiet window; weekend brunch fills the footpath tables fast, so arrive early with the dog or expect to wait.

Getting there and parking

Angelo Street is the main strip between the river and Mandurah Highway-side South Perth. Street parking along the strip is time-limited and tight on weekends, with residential streets nearby as overflow, and bus stops on Labouchere Road are a short walk if you leave the car at home.

Nearby with the dogs

The South Perth Foreshore is a five to ten minute walk for river views, and note the City of South Perth keeps most of the foreshore grass on-lead, so check signage before unclipping. For a proper off-lead run, Olives Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Como is the nearest fenced option. Little Angelo is a few doors along the same strip if you want a second outdoor-table stop.
