Juice Palace Fremantle

Juice Palace is a retro juice and coffee van parked on the grass at South Beach in South Fremantle, right inside the dog exercise area on Marine Terrace. There is no counter seating and no indoor space; the setup is the sand, the dune paths and the lawn around the van, which makes it the most dog-first coffee stop in the suburb. You order a flat white and a peanut butter smoothie and stand where the dog can still swim.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome everywhere around the van because the van sits inside the off-leash zone itself. Most visitors are here straight off the dog beach with sandy towels in the car. Keep effective control of your dog around the queue, carry a leash even though you may not need it, and use the bins provided. This is a shared space, and the crowd is largely dog people, so it stays easygoing.

Worth knowing

It trades mornings only, from 7am to midday, and takes seasonal breaks over the colder months, so check its Facebook page before you drive out in winter. The menu leans healthy: cold-pressed juices, smoothies and signature acai and smoothie bowls, plus toasties, muffins and a full espresso list with turmeric, beetroot and matcha lattes for anyone who wants them.

Getting there and the walk

Park in the free public carpark off Marine Terrace and follow the path onto the reserve. The dog off-leash beach runs about 400 metres, with on-leash rules on the surrounding paths, playgrounds and the northern sections of South Beach, so lead up before you wander along the dunes.

Make a day of it
