Selby General Store & Cafe is a family-run country cafe and community co-op on Belgrave-Gembrook Road, the kind of stop where the coffee is good and the dogs are clearly part of the regular crowd.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome outside, with seating under the front umbrellas along the street. Indoors is kept for customers without pets, so plan on the outdoor tables. Staff are known to bring out a puppacino for visiting dogs, a nice touch on a longer Dandenong Ranges loop.

Getting there. The cafe sits on the main Belgrave-Gembrook Road, an easy drive from Belgrave or Menzies Creek. Free street parking is available with some limited on-site spots. Belgrave Station is the nearest train stop, a short drive or bus ride away.

Nearby with the dogs. Puffing Billy's Menzies Creek station and the wider Dandenong Ranges National Park trails are a few minutes away, though dogs need to stay on-lead in national park sections. Confirm current rules for any specific trail before you head off.
