Jham Bar Espresso

Jham Bar Espresso is a small urban-style espresso bar at 4/349 Esplanade, Scarness, on the beachfront strip between Torquay and Pialba. It opens from 6am and is built for a quick, friendly coffee stop with the sand a short walk away, which makes it a natural start to a Hervey Bay morning walk.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the streetscape outdoor seating on the footpath along the Esplanade; there is no indoor seating, so the footpath is the whole offering. Water bowls are available for thirsty dogs and staff have a welcoming reputation. Keep the lead on while the morning foot traffic passes, since the tables sit right against the Esplanade walk.

Worth knowing

The house Twenty13 Orange blend is the signature, with chocolate and nutty notes, and the cabinet runs to banana bread, savoury scones and cheese and ham croissants alongside cakes. Reviewers call out the efficient service and the relaxed pace. Hours are 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday, and 6am to midday on weekends, so weekend mornings end earlier than you might expect.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking runs along the Esplanade in front of the shops, with public parking behind the beachfront strip as a backup. The cafe sits in the Scarness shopping block, with the foreshore park and beach directly across the road.
