River Heads Cafe and Take Away is the last proper feed before the K'gari (Fraser Island) barge, a rustic local spot on Ariadne Street known for huge breakfasts and a deck that welcomes dogs.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor deck, on a lead and under control. Only assistance dogs are permitted in the air-conditioned indoor area. Staff have been known to bring out a water bowl on request, but it is worth asking rather than assuming one will appear.

Good to know. The cafe is famous for generous, affordable breakfast and lunch portions, fish and chips, and a solid coffee, making it a popular pre-ferry or post-ferry stop for people heading to or from Fraser Island.

Getting there. The cafe sits at 80 Ariadne St, River Heads, close to the barge terminal, with ample free street parking right out front.
