What visitors mention
Coffee & Cactus on Avoca Street combines a specialty coffee counter with an indoor plant shop, and dogs are genuinely welcome in the outdoor seating while you browse or sip. It has built up a bit of a following for its "Canine Wall of Fame" of regular four-legged visitors.
The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor and footpath seating. The indoor space doubles as an active plant shop and food area, so dogs generally stay outside. No pet fees, but leads are required at all times, and water bowls are often put out for thirsty pups.
Good to know. The coffee is roasted in-house, and the kitchen is staffed by chefs from well-known Sydney kitchens. Come cooler months, the toasted paninis and cheese toasties are the standout order.
Getting there. It's an easy walk if you're already around Randwick, on Avoca Street. Street parking exists but can be tight, so check time-limit signs. Local buses and the Sydney Light Rail both stop nearby at Randwick.
Nearby with the dogs. Centennial Park is a short walk away with large off-leash areas for a proper run, and Queens Park nearby has good walking paths if you want to keep things calmer.
Open from 7:30am Monday to Saturday, so it suits an early coffee before the off-leash crowds build up at Centennial Park.
