Coffee & Cactus

Coffee & Cactus operates at 133 Avoca Street, Randwick, a specialty coffee counter set inside the Watertiger Furniture & Homewares store and surrounded by cacti and indoor plants. It runs 7:30am to 2:30pm Monday to Saturday and closes Sundays, and dogs are genuinely welcome in the outdoor and footpath seating, with the venue's own Canine Wall of Fame documenting its regular four-legged visitors.

The dog setup

The indoor space doubles as an active plant shop and food area, so dogs stay outside at the footpath tables. Leads are required at all times, water bowls are often put out for thirsty pups, and there are no pet fees. The atmosphere is calm and unhurried, which suits dogs that prefer a quiet corner to a busy strip.

Worth knowing

The coffee is roasted in-house and the kitchen, staffed by chefs with backgrounds in well-known Sydney kitchens, leans on pastries and light counter fare, with toasted paninis and cheese toasties the standout order in the cooler months. Shopping comes free with the coffee: the curated cacti, indoor plants and pots are all for sale in the same room.

Getting there and parking

Avoca Street sits in the Randwick shopping strip, an easy walk from the light rail stop and local buses, with street parking nearby though time-limit signs are enforced. Early mornings are the quiet window before the Centennial Park crowd builds.
