Royal Copenhagen Port Noarlunga

Royal Copenhagen Port Noarlunga is a Danish-style ice cream and coffee shop at 13 Saltfleet Street, a short stroll from the beach and jetty on Adelaide's southern coast. It goes further for dogs than most ice cream shops: a covered outdoor seating area with lead hooks, water bowls, and banana and yoghurt based ice cream cups and biscuits made specifically for dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the covered outdoor seating and the exterior areas, with spots to hook a lead while you order. Water bowls are usually out, so a post-beach drink is sorted. Indoors is off limits, standard for a food shop. Order the dog their own scoop and settle into one of the more genuinely dog-equipped stops on the coast.

Worth knowing

The draw is homemade ice cream and gelato churned in-store, hot cinnamon donuts, a self-serve toppings bar and a big flavour range, plus thick shakes and coffee for the humans. Hours run 10am to 9pm Sunday through Thursday and to 10pm Friday and Saturday, which makes it a proper summer-evening stop rather than just a lunchtime one.

Getting there and parking

The shop sits in the middle of the beachside village, easy to reach on foot after a walk on the beach. Free street parking runs along Saltfleet Street and the surrounding blocks, with public car parks serving the beach and jetty precinct. Both fill up fast on warm weekends, though turnover is quick.

Make a day of it

The beach and jetty are directly opposite, and the Onkaparinga River mouth is a short walk away for a longer lead walk. The Flour Store is another dog-friendly cafe on the same street worth pairing, Dukes Cafe is down the coast at Moana, and Annie's Cafe covers Christies Beach if you are working the strip.
