Cafe Michigan

Cafe Michigan is a casual, well-priced local on Michigan Drive in Oxenford, popular with regulars for big-portion breakfasts and specialty coffee. Its other draw is location: a dog park sits directly across the road, so a walk and a feed pair up easily.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the shaded outdoor seating, which is roomy enough for a dog to settle under the table. Staff are known for being friendly to visiting dogs and will usually bring a water bowl out, though bringing your own is the safer bet on busy mornings.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is rated for generous, well-priced plates: eggs benedict, smashed avo and a brekky burger for breakfast, an angus burger for lunch, plus homemade cakes and scones and a much-mentioned vanilla slice. There is a solid range of vegetarian options too. Hours are 7am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday, and it closes Sundays, so plan a weekday or Saturday visit. The coffee program is genuinely good, and regulars keep coming back for the service as much as the food.

Getting there and parking

You will find it on Michigan Drive in Oxenford, close to the M1. Parking is free in the surrounding complex lot and on the street, and there is space to secure a bike if you ride.

Close by with the dogs

The dog park across the road is the obvious before-or-after stop for a run. For a dedicated fenced option, the dog park at Damian Leeding Memorial Park is close by. If you want a second coffee, The Fresh Pantry and Spresso are both dog-friendly Oxenford options.
