Juliette's

Juliette's is the gelateria on The Strand at North Ward, at unit 7/58 near the Landsborough Street corner, and it is a fixture for dog owners walking Townsville's beachfront. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, and the long opening hours mean it works as a post-walk coffee stop or an evening gelato run.

The dog setup

Dogs settle at the outdoor tables surrounding the gelateria, on lead, with the beachfront promenade right there. The Strand footpath is wide and the tables face the water, so there is space to tuck a dog in without blocking passing strollers, prams and the rollerbladers. Bring water for the dog in the tropics heat and ask staff for a bowl when you arrive.

The vibe and the menu

The draw is the gelato: a big range of classic and inventive flavours plus dairy-free sorbets, backed by coffee and desserts. It is a people-watching spot as much as a food stop, with ocean views across Cleveland Bay to Magnetic Island. Doors open from 6am and it runs into the evening, one of the latest on the strip, so sunset visits with the dog are the local play.

Getting there and parking

Find it on The Strand in North Ward, with street parking along the beachfront and side streets off Landsborough Street. The Strand runs along the water's edge a few minutes from the Townsville CBD, and the full beachfront path is one of the best dog walks in the city.

Close by with the dogs

The Strand itself is the walk, and the Goat Track up Castle Hill is the tougher option for energetic dogs nearby. For a full breakfast before the gelato, Happy Place and Odyssey on the Strand are dog-friendly stops on the same strip.
