Bubbles n Froth

Bubbles n Froth is a dessert and bubble tea bar on Gregory Street in North Ward, a short walk from The Strand in Townsville. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, which makes it an easy sweet stop on an evening lap of the beachfront with the lead still on.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the outdoor seating area, leashed, while you work through the drinks list. It is an order-at-counter setup, so one person holds the table while the other orders; on humid Townsville evenings the shaded outside spots go first.

Hours run from midday: 12pm to 8pm Tuesday to Thursday, to 9pm on Friday, then 10am starts on Saturday and Sunday. Mondays are closed, so it is an afternoon-and-evening stop rather than a morning one.

The vibe

The menu covers traditional and creative bubble teas, smoothies, frappes, milkshakes and ice cream, with Filipino-style halo-halo the point of difference. The crowd skews young and relaxed, and it fills up after dinner on weekends.

Pepsi: go late afternoon before the rush, grab the outside table with the shade, and split a halo-halo while the dog watches the Gregory Street traffic.

Getting there

The address is 2/48 Gregory Street, North Ward QLD 4810, in the strip of cafes and bars a couple of blocks inland from The Strand. Street parking runs along Gregory Street and the surrounding lanes, and the beachfront is a five-minute walk.

While you're out there

For a proper meal nearby, Odyssey on the Strand and Juliette's both take dogs at outdoor tables, and Happy Place is another Gregory Street regular.
