Sherwood Coffee - Parry Street

Sherwood Coffee on Parry Street is one of Newcastle's most reliable dog-friendly cafes, and the team has made dogs part of the routine rather than an exception: pats, treats, and custom water bowls are part of the service. The Parry Street shop sits on the western edge of the CBD, handy for anyone walking in from Hamilton or the interchange end of town.

Dogs sit with you in the outdoor seating near the street frontage, and the staff are famously welcoming, often coming out with pats and treats and setting down a 'Sherwoof' water bowl. It is one of the easier cafe visits you will make with a dog: no scrambling for water, and staff used to having dogs at the tables. Keep your dog on lead and settled at the frontage as the footpath gets foot traffic.

This is a quick-turnover specialty coffee shop rather than a long brunch room: acai bowls, bacon and egg rolls, toasties and a reuben for the sit-down crowd. It opens at 6am on weekdays, which makes it a natural stop before work after an early walk, with weekends from 7am to 1pm.
