Shippys Cafe

Shippys Cafe is a converted shipping container on the Mildura riverfront at 122 Hugh King Drive, pouring coffee with Murray River views and a reputation as one of the town's most genuine dog-welcoming stops. Seating is entirely outdoors, so your dog is part of the plan rather than an exception to it.

The dog setup

The whole operation is open-air: a covered patio, umbrellas for shade and lawn alongside the river path. Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor area, water bowls are usually on hand, and staff have a habit of greeting four-legged regulars properly. The tables sit close to Hugh King Drive though, so keep the lead short when the patio fills and the foot traffic picks up.

The vibe

This is a casual kiosk, not a sit-down restaurant: order at the window, grab a table, watch the river. The bacon-and-egg rolls and toasties are the regular orders, croissants cover the early crew, and the coffee is dependable and priced fairly. Hours run 7am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm on weekends.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits right on the riverfront walking path along Hugh King Drive, and free parking is easy, including street spots directly outside. Weekday mornings are the calm window; weekends can crowd the patio, so come early or expect a short wait for a table.

Make a day of it

The riverfront walk runs straight past the door, and Rio Vista fenced dog park is a short walk along Hugh King Drive if you want an off-leash run either side of coffee.
