Bobby + Me sits right on the Mildura riverfront on Hugh King Drive, a relaxed outdoor cafe under tree shade with the Murray River in front of it. This is one of the few cafes in the region that actively plans for dogs rather than merely tolerating them: the outdoor seating welcomes pups, treats come out on arrival, and there is a small dog menu with pupcakes and biscuits for the occasion.
The dog setup
Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor seating, which is the bulk of the venue anyway, with covered sections for shade on hot Sunraysia days. Water is provided and the staff hand out free treats, so the bowl you packed may go unused. The setting is open and park-like, which keeps dogs calm even when the tables fill. It is easy to combine with a walk: the riverfront paths start at the door, and if the tables are full the wait is a pleasant one along the water.
Worth knowing
The menu covers breakfast and lunch properly: the Bobby Meets Benny with pork belly and chipotle hollandaise, zucchini and parmesan fritters, a halloumi stack, plus burgers, waffles and cakes that get regular mentions. Shakes and smoothies sit alongside serious coffee. Hours are 7:30am to 3pm every day. There is even houseboat mooring alongside, so river travellers can tie up and step ashore for coffee with the dog.
Getting there and parking
Find it on Hugh King Drive on the Mildura riverfront, near Nowingi Place. Street parking runs along Hugh King Drive, though it can need a short walk at busy times; the riverfront car parks a little further along are the fallback.
While you are out there
For off-lead time, the Mildura Fenced Dog Park (Rio Vista Park) is on the same stretch of Hugh King Drive, an easy add-on either side of coffee. Shippys Cafe is another riverfront dog-friendly option just along the water, and Mocha Mecca covers the Mildura South end.
