Mrs. S Cafe holds the corner of Whatley Crescent and Eighth Avenue in Maylands, a vintage-styled brunch room where the dog-friendly action happens at the footpath tables out front. For anyone walking the cafe strip, it is one of the simplest stops on the strip to fold a dog into.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables along the front of the cafe; the interior seating stays people only. The kerbside position gives your dog a front-row view of the street, which suits a confident, people-watching dog far better than a nervous one. Water bowls are usually on hand and staff tend to be accommodating, but on weekend mornings when every table fills, having your own collapsible bowl removes the wait.

Worth knowing

The menu is a broad, well-presented brunch and lunch list: scrambled eggs and poached eggs on toast, avocado smash, pancakes, pulled pork rolls and a serious steak sandwich, with gluten-free options covered. It is a busy corner on weekends, so a dog that settles among foot traffic gets the best out of it. Weekday mornings are the calm version of the same visit.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits at 178 Whatley Crescent, Maylands, a short walk from Maylands Station on the Airport line, so you can arrive on foot with the dog without touching a car. Street parking runs along Whatley Crescent and the surrounding residential streets if you do drive.

Close by with the dogs

The Maylands Peninsular Loop starts nearby and makes a natural warm-up lap before breakfast, while Riverside Gardens Dog Beach down at Bayswater gives your dog a swim on the same side of town. For a second coffee stop, JUNI Cafe and the Garden Cafe on Guildford are both in walking distance.
