Lazy George Cafe Marulan

Lazy George Cafe is a popular Hume Highway stopover in the Marulan Village Centre, open early for breakfast and running through to mid-afternoon, and it explicitly advertises dog-friendly outdoor dining with room to spread out. For travellers working a dog down the Hume, it is one of the more reliable highway-adjacent stops between the Southern Highlands and Goulburn.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the paved outdoor seating area, with access straight from the street or the car park so you never need to take a dog through the inside. Water bowls are generally on offer and staff have a reputation for being genuinely welcoming to travelling dogs. Keep leads on and dogs settled under the table; the outdoor area sits near the carpark, so a dog that bolts is the one risk here.

Worth knowing

The kitchen runs on Campos coffee and hearty all-day plates: bacon and egg rolls, eggs benedict, avo stacks, gluten-free buns and a well-mentioned halloumi burger, plus pizza specials. Hours vary by day, opening from around 7:15am most mornings and 8:15am Monday and Sunday, closing mid-afternoon.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits about two minutes off the Hume Highway in the Marulan Village Centre, with plentiful free off-street parking big enough for cars, utes and caravans. Marulan Railway Station is a short walk away.

Close by with the dogs

Meridian Cafe is the other Marulan coffee option. If the trip continues toward Goulburn, Victoria Park Fenced Dog Park makes a proper leg-stretch stop and Thirsty Farmer is a dog-friendly coffee and feed option in town.
