Juice Box Cafe

Juice Box Cafe runs out of the small shopping strip on Anzac Parade in Malabar, a couple of minutes' walk up from Malabar Beach. It is a health-leaning all-day cafe, popular with locals for smoothies and acai bowls, and dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out front, which makes it a natural stop on the eastern-suburbs beach circuit.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the front footpath tables, on leash and clear of the ordering counter. Staff are known to be friendly to dogs and a water bowl is often put out, but ask on arrival in case that varies day to day. Inside is people-only.

Worth knowing

The menu leans nutrient-dense: smoothies, loaded teas, acai bowls, all-day brunch wraps and burgers, plus a solid range of raw treats and cakes. Hours run 6am to 3:30pm Monday to Saturday and 7am to 3pm Sunday. One thing to plan around: Malabar Headland is gazetted as a national park, so dogs are not permitted on the headland walking tracks, and beach time with your dog needs checking against Randwick Council signage rather than assuming off-leash access.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at Unit 1, 1215 Anzac Parade, Malabar. Street parking runs along Anzac Parade and there is a small village car park nearby, though both fill up on weekends. Bus routes along Anzac Parade stop close by if you would rather arrive on foot from Maroubra or La Perouse with the dog already warmed up.

Close by with the dogs

Pioneers Park, a few minutes up Anzac Parade, has a designated off-leash dog area under Randwick Council and is the easiest off-leash option near the cafe. If you are pairing stops, Coastal Brasserie Malabar is the suburb's other dog-friendly listing, while Oba Cafe in Matraville and Chalk Espresso Bar in Maroubra cover the next suburbs along.
