Bean Seen Cafe

Bean Seen Cafe is an early-opening cafe on Lilydale's main strip, six mornings a week from 6am, with shaded outdoor tables out the front that are noted as welcoming to dogs. It is a reliable first stop for a dog walk in the Yarra Ranges, because the big walking options around Lilydale all sit within a few minutes' drive of Main Street.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the shaded outdoor tables along Main Street, which the cafe's own material describes as for the hounds. Water provision is not formally advertised, so carry a travel bowl to be safe. As everywhere in Yarra Ranges, your dog needs to be on a lead in public areas unless inside a designated off-leash zone, so keep them settled under the table.

The food and hours

The menu is generous all-day brunch territory: egg and bacon rolls, smashed avo, burgers and a steak sandwich are the usual picks, and there is a display cabinet of pastries and cakes worth eyeing on the way in. Hours are 6am to 4pm Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 3pm Saturday, closed Sundays. Main Street parking fills early, so side streets are the fallback.

Close by with the dogs

Lillydale Lake has three designated off-leash areas around its 2.6km water circuit, including the north-west off-leash area near Olinda Creek and the east off-leash area where dogs can splash; the rest of the shared paths are on-lead, and dogs are not allowed at the beach or playground areas.
