Cafe Gold Coast sits on the corner of Marine Parade and Robert Street in Labrador, directly opposite the Broadwater. The draw is the view: you eat looking across the water to Wave Break Island, and the dog sits beside you while you do it. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor, footpath-side tables only.

The dog setup. Dogs join you at the outdoor seating that runs along the footpath, so you keep the water views. Inside is people-only. Staff are generally accommodating and water bowls are usually on hand, but bring your own collapsible bowl so you are not left waiting on a busy morning.

Good to know. The kitchen is known for big breakfasts, poached eggs and breakfast burgers, with a broad coffee list. It gets packed with locals, tourists and other dogs, so a settled, sociable dog copes best here.

Getting there and parking. Free street parking along Marine Parade is limited and fills on weekends. Adjacent residential streets such as Robert Street are your backup. Arriving early, or walking in along the Broadwater path, saves the circling.

Nearby with the dogs. Broadwater Parklands is straight across the road, a long stretch of grass and waterfront path for a walk before or after coffee. Further north along Marine Parade, near the Labrador AFL club, there is a dedicated off-leash dog area on the Broadwater. Check the signage for zones and times.

Come early on weekends for a footpath table and the calmest version of the room. Good for water-view breakfasts with a dog that is happy in a crowd.
