Paperboy Coffee Bar - Hampton

Paperboy Coffee Bar sits at 370 Hampton Street on the southern end of the strip, and it is one of the more dog-heavy cafes in Bayside: on a good morning a fair share of the footpath tables have a dog parked underneath. It pours Industry Beans coffee, bakes in breads from Cobb Lane, and is part of the Chatty Cafe network, so the room is as sociable as the street front.

The dog setup

Dogs take the outdoor footpath seating along Hampton Street, where staff happily accommodate them, bring out water bowls and hand around complimentary dog biscuits. The only real decision is temperament: with this many dogs passing through, a sociable dog will love it and a nervous one will not, so take a table at the quieter end if yours prefers to opt out of every hello.

Worth knowing

The chicken toastie is the standing order for a quick bite, the chilli folded eggs are the brunch pick, and gluten-free needs are handled well alongside bagels and a short pastry case. Hours are 6:30am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 7:30am to 3pm weekends. Locals aim for mid-morning on weekends to beat the rush and lock in a footpath table.

Getting there and parking

Hampton Street runs south from Hampton Station, which is a short walk away, and street parking plus some free off-street bays sit close by. The Sandringham Jetty to Ricketts Point trail gives you a proper coastal walk to pair with coffee, and the Sandy Kiosk near the Sandringham dog beach is the natural second stop.
