Threepence Cafe

Threepence Cafe is a compact neighbourhood cafe and bakery at Unit 4, 30 Marquis Street in Hammond Park, south of Perth, and the outdoor tables are dog friendly. It is the local you duck into for a solid coffee and brunch before or after a walk rather than a destination in its own right, and staff have built a name for looking after the dogs that come through.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, with the indoor room off limits. The team is known to be accommodating, including helping out with your order if you are stuck outside mid-lead-tangle, and visitors regularly mention puppucinos and dog biscuits making an appearance. Water bowls are typically available or easy to request, but treat the extras as a bonus and carry water on hot days. The outdoor area is small, so a busy weekend can leave you waiting.

Worth knowing

The menu runs to hash browns, burgers, steak sandwiches, ham and cheese croissants, curried eggs on toast and a well-regarded cinnamon scroll, with generous portions for a suburban cafe. Hours are 6am to 2pm Monday and Tuesday, 6am to 2:30pm Wednesday to Friday, and 7am to 1pm weekends.

Getting there and parking

Marquis Street sits in a small shopping strip off the Wattleup Road end of Hammond Park, with parking on site, so it is an easy stop by car. The natural pairing is the Baler Court Fenced Dog Park around the corner: run the dog first, then claim an outdoor table while it settles.
