Trouble and Strife

Trouble and Strife is a busy little cafe on the Goodwood Road strip, and the draw for dog owners is the rear garden: a quieter, shadier spot to sit than the footpath out front. Dogs are welcome at both.

The dog setup

Dogs join you outdoors, either at the front footpath tables on Goodwood Road or in the back garden. The garden is the better bet with a dog: more shade, less foot traffic and a calmer feel away from the street. Staff are used to dogs and generally happy to bring a water bowl. The garden tables are spaced enough for a bigger dog to settle out of the walkway.

Worth knowing

The kitchen leans on good coffee, sourdough and cakes, with solid vegetarian and vegan options, and a carrot cake with a following. It opens 8am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and closes Sundays. Banana bread and a brioche roll get repeat mentions, and the coffee list keeps the morning regulars loyal. Weekend mornings fill the garden, so a weekday visit is the calm one.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is right on Goodwood Road. Free street parking runs along the strip and side streets like Florence Street, but it turns over quickly and fills on weekends. Check the time-limit signs before you leave the car.

Close by with the dogs

Goodwood Oval is about a kilometre away for a leg-stretch before or after, and the strip itself is an easy dog-friendly wander with other outdoor-seating cafes along it. Yugen Art & Coffee and Unley Social are two more dog-friendly options on the same stretch.
