Cup & Coaster

Cup & Coaster is one of Fyshwick's busiest brunch rooms, sitting at 2/64 Wollongong Street with footpath tables straight off the street. The ACT Government's own dog-friendly food guide names it, and the flat, easy footpath access makes it a simple stop for a post-walk breakfast with the dog.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor seating on the Wollongong Street footpath, with room to settle a dog beside the table clear of the walkway. Free water bowls are typically offered on request, though on hot Canberra days a backup travel bowl is smart. Indoors follows the usual food-service rules, so plan on outside. The footpath tables sit right on the street, so a short lead keeps your dog out of passing feet through the busy end of the morning.

On the menu

The kitchen leans hearty and a bit different: the tonkatsu sando and okonomiyaki sit alongside free long blacks, chilli scramble, shakshuka and a French toast with a following. It has a reputation for one of Fyshwick's better breakfast rolls, and specialty coffee to match. Hours run 7am to 2pm weekdays and 8am to 2pm weekends, and the room fills fast on Saturdays, so weekday mid-morning is the calmest window with a dog.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits at 2/64 Wollongong Street in the Fyshwick industrial precinct, with generally ample on-street parking directly out front and flat pavement access from the car to the table.

Close by with the dogs

Jerrabomberra Wetlands is close but keeps dogs out entirely, so keep walks to the precinct streets. For a proper run, Kingston View Drive Fenced Dog Park is a short drive over the railway line. ONA Coffee House Cafe and Good Neighbour Cafe in Kingston are other dog-friendly stops in the same corner of Canberra.
