The lead. Cup & Coaster is a busy, well-liked brunch cafe on Wollongong Street in Fyshwick, big on quality coffee and hearty rolls. Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out front, with easy flat access straight off the street.

Good to know. It has a reputation for one of Fyshwick's better brekkie rolls and a Japanese-style tonkatsu sando, plus specialty coffee. The crowd is a friendly mix of locals, workers and their dogs.

Getting there. It is at 2/64 Wollongong Street. There is generally ample on-street parking directly out front, and the pavement access is flat and easy with a dog in tow.

Nearby with the dogs. Fyshwick Markets are close by for a leashed wander around the outside, though dogs cannot go into the indoor halls. Jerrabomberra Wetlands is a short drive but does not allow dogs, so keep walks to the streets and precincts.

When to go. Weekday mid-mornings are calmer than the weekend rush. Bring your own water bowl in summer and confirm the outdoor dog policy with staff on arrival.
