Blue Berry Barn Cafe and Post Office is a country cafe and working post office set in a barn on a Frankford paddock, right on the main road between Launceston and the North West Coast. The defining reason to stop: dogs are welcome in the outdoor alfresco area, and the surrounding rural farmland gives you proper room to stretch legs between Devonshire tea and coffee.

Dog setup. Dogs are welcome but must stay on-leash in the outdoor seating area. The grounds around the cafe are well-maintained with plenty of open space for an on-leash country walk, including near the resident chickens. Keep your dog leashed and close at hand around the chooks and other animals.

Parking. Free onsite parking is available directly at the venue at 1969 Frankford Road, Frankford.

Farm cafes with free-range chooks are a test of loose-leash manners. Reward calm eye contact and position yourself between your dog and the chicken run if recall is still a work in progress.

When to go. Open seven days, 9 AM to 4 PM. For a quieter table with the dog, aim for mid-morning on a weekday rather than the weekend scone rush.
