Sidmouth Recreation Ground

Sidmouth Recreation Ground is a rural sports ground on the Batman Highway in the West Tamar, and a lap of its grassy edges is a simple leg stretch for a dog. There is no formal walking track, so think of it as a field-edge wander rather than a trail.

Lead rules

West Tamar Council runs the ground. In public places dogs must be on a lead no longer than 2 metres unless an area is signed for dog exercise, so keep the lead on here.

The ground

Expect open, flat grass rather than a paved path, with sports fields in the middle and farmland all around. The highway runs alongside, so hold the lead firmly near the road edge.

Parking is on site or right beside the grounds. Shade is limited to the trees around the perimeter.

Before you go

No dedicated water points or dog bins are listed, so pack water, a bowl and your own bags.

Skip it when a match is on and the fields are in use. On a quiet day it suits a relaxed dog that just needs a stretch during a drive along the West Tamar.
