KV's Cafe Engadine

KV's Cafe is a family-run local at 56 Station Street, Engadine, a short walk from the station in the middle of town. It opened in late 2024 in the old Hanna's Place spot and serves home-made breakfast and lunch with the usual hot and cold drinks. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, and the Google listing marks the venue as allowing dogs inside and out, so it is worth asking at the counter on a cold morning.

The dog setup

Leashed dogs settle at the footpath and outdoor tables out front. Water bowls are provided, and outdoor heaters run through the colder months, which keeps a winter coffee stop comfortable for both ends of the lead. Bring your own bowl as a backup on busy mornings, and keep your dog tucked in close because the footpath sees steady foot traffic between the shopfronts and the station.

The vibe and the menu

The kitchen leans on fresh, home-made breakfast and lunch plates, and the mango smoothie comes up regularly in local chatter alongside the coffee. There is a small indoor play area out the back for toddlers, which tells you the crowd skews family. Hours run 6am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and 6am to 2pm on Sundays and public holidays, so it is an early-morning venue rather than an afternoon one.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs directly out front on Station Street with council car parks nearby, and Engadine station is close enough to arrive on foot with the dog.

Close by with the dogs

Engadine has no fenced off-leash park of its own, so the practical run is The Ridge Dog Off-Leash Bush Park at Barden Ridge, a short drive west, where the council runs separate enclosures for large and small dogs with a water bubbler and dog bowl. Closer to town, the fenced Helena Street Park dog park at Kirrawee is down the freeway, and the Woronora River Bridge Loop makes a good on-lead walk before coffee. Back in Engadine, Board 'n' Barrel is the other dog-friendly stop on Station Street, with tie-up posts and treats at the door.
