Julian's Cafe

Julian's Cafe is a small neighbourhood cafe in the Elanora Heights village shops on Kalang Road, open every day from 7am to 2pm. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, and the cafe's own Instagram tells locals plainly: bring your dog in for breakfast or lunch.

The dog setup

Dogs settle on the footpath and outdoor seating area out the front of the village strip. Water bowls are commonly put out for four-legged guests, and the cafe has a local reputation for welcoming pets in with their owners. The footpath is compact, so keep your dog leashed and settled close to your table while you eat.

The vibe

This is a cosy, family-run village cafe rather than a destination brunch spot. Coffee is poured from Campos beans, and the cabinet and menu run to house-made cakes, toasties, paninis, bacon and egg rolls and a loaded pastrami sourdough for lunch. Expect a friendly local crowd and a straightforward, well-made menu.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at shop 2, 55 Kalang Road, Elanora Heights, with free on-street parking along the village strip directly out front. It is a small, low-key operation with only a handful of reviews so far, so it suits a quiet weekday coffee more than a busy weekend rush.

Close by with the dogs

Truman Reserve is a short stroll from the cafe and has a fenced area where dogs can run off lead. For a bigger session, the Progress Park dog off-leash area in North Narrabeen is a short drive away, and the Narrabeen Lagoon foreshore gives you an easy on-lead walk with water views. If you are making a morning of it on the northern beaches, the Lakehouse Cafe at Narrabeen is another dog-friendly table to try.
