Roma Bar has anchored the Darwin CBD coffee scene from Cavenagh Street since 1989, and the draw for dog owners is the spacious covered outdoor area where dogs are genuinely welcome alongside a strong all-day menu.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the covered outdoor and footpath tables that border the cafe. Indoors is people-only, standard for a food venue. The cafe leans into being dog-welcoming, and water bowls are usually out the front, though it is worth bringing your own on a hot dry-season day.

Good to know. Open roughly 7am to 3pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm weekends. The kitchen is known for an eclectic all-day spread, from an Indian breakfast with dahl and roti through to fish tacos, gado gado and falafel, and the coffee has a long-standing local reputation.

Getting there. It sits at 9 Cavenagh Street in the heart of the CBD. Metered street parking runs along Cavenagh Street and the surrounding blocks during business hours, with council off-street parking nearby. If you are staying in the city it is an easy walk.

Nearby with the dogs. Bicentennial Park and the Esplanade are a short walk away, with paved clifftop paths and harbour views where dogs stay on-lead. Note that dogs are not permitted at Darwin's markets.
