Kava Collective

Kava Collective is a small, dog-mad coffee cart and cafe on Bastion Lane in Cudgen, a couple of minutes inland from Kingscliff. Seating is outdoor and covered, and the regulars will tell you the dogs practically run the place.

The dog setup. Both the front and back outdoor seating areas welcome dogs. There is no indoor dining to worry about, since the cafe is built around its outdoor tables, so a lead-side seat is the default rather than an exception. Water bowls are put out for visiting dogs, and the cafe sells natural bone-broth dog biscuits for about a dollar, plus treats such as Doglato bars for a proper occasion.

Good to know. Regulars come for quality espresso, chai and hot chocolate, plus weekend pastries. It runs weekend mornings and select weekdays, so check current hours before a special trip.

Getting there. It's at 2/32 Bastion Lane, Cudgen, in a quiet residential pocket with street parking nearby. Flat, easy walking distance if you're staying locally.

Nearby with the dogs. Kingscliff Beach and the Kingscliff foreshore path are a short drive away for a run after coffee, and Cudgen Creek is close by for an on-leash wander.

When to go. Weekend mornings are the liveliest, with the outdoor tables filling fast, so get there early if you want a seat with the dog underfoot.
