Kava Collective

Kava Collective operates from a converted coffee cart position at 567 Cudgen Road in Cudgen, a quiet rural pocket just inland from Kingscliff on the NSW Tweed Coast, and it has built a 5-star local following on barista skill and friendliness. For dogs it goes well beyond the usual welcome: shaded outdoor seating under the trees out front and back, water bowls, natural bone-broth biscuits and even Doglato ice cream bars.

The dog setup

Dogs settle into the tree-shaded outdoor areas, which are roomy enough to give a restless dog some breathing space without blocking the path. Fresh water bowls sit around the seating zones, and the treat game is genuinely strong: bone-broth biscuits cost about a dollar, and the Doglato is the indulgent end of the menu.

The quiet Cudgen Road location means far less traffic and noise than the beachside strips, which makes it a good confidence-builder for young or anxious dogs learning cafe manners.

Max: a cafe that stocks bone-broth biscuits has already decided dogs belong here. I still bring my own water bottle in summer, because bowls dry out fast in Tweed heat.

The vibe

Think small-batch coffee, fresh local produce and an easy country-coast register, with staff who remember the regulars, human and canine. Hours run 7am to 2.30pm on weekdays, 7.30am to 2.30pm Sunday, with Friday finishing at 1.30pm and Saturday closed, so plan around the weekend gap.

Getting there

The cafe is on Cudgen Road in Cudgen NSW 2487, roughly five minutes from Kingscliff and ten from Casuarina, with parking available on site. It is an easy detour off the Tweed Coast cycle of beaches rather than a destination you need directions for.

Make a day of it

Team the stop with a run at the Kingscliff dog off-leash area, or make it a coastal cafe crawl via She Oak Espresso in Casuarina. Mockingbird in Kingscliff is another dog-welcoming brunch option with an undercover terrace.
